How to Hide Unwanted Replies on Twitter

Twitter’s radical “Hide Replies” feature, one of the biggest changes to how Twitter works since the invention of the Retweet, is now available to Twitter’s global user base.
Twitter users can now hide unwanted replies to their tweets as part of a broader effort to make the platform less toxic. That means the trolling, irrelevant, insulting or otherwise disagreeable comments don’t get to dominate the conversation.

The feature has been in testing since July this year, and now it is available to all.

Since its launch, Twitter found that most people hide the replies they find irrelevant, off-topic or annoying. It also found people were using this instead of harsher noise reduction controls, like block or mute.

How to Hide Replies on Twitter

  1. To Hide Replies, tap the gray icon that appears on your post and select “hide reply.” Those replies will be moved to a different page, where they can still be viewed by other users. To see the hidden replies, users can select the “hidden reply” icon on the tweet.
  2. Twitter will also ask if the owner of the account would like to block the person whose reply they hid.
  3. The new tool could be used to block replies that are spammy or unrelated to the content of the tweet. They could also be used to silence harassment, trolls or people with opposing viewpoints.
  4. The new feature is now rolling out to iOS, Android, and Twitter lite. Update your app to get the feature rolling.

MTN Launches 5G Network in Nigeria

MTN NG commenced its 5G network trial in Abuja, Nigeria today, making the country the first to do so in West Africa.

The launch of the 5G Network is in line with the telco’s decision to roll out 5G in other major cities in Nigeria before 2020. This is coming immediately after the telco successfully ran a trial of the Network in South Africa, achieving 20 Gigabyte per second (Gbps) with less than five minutes latency.

Earlier in 2018, MTN Nigeria says it will start the commercial deployment of 5G technology before 2020. True to its words, the first official 5G Demo has been launched in Nigeria, in partnership with Huawei.
The test run of the fifth-generation cellular network by MTN is indeed the biggest achievement any telco would naturally boast of in Africa. 5G is better than 4G in a number of ways. 5G technology has 1,000-times the capacity, 100-times the connected device, 100-times the speed, 10-times reliability, and 10-times lower latency than 4G.

What You Should Know About MTN 5G Test in Abuja Today

  1. A comparism test took place between 4G and 5G and it took just 15.78 seconds to download a 2.3 GB video on the 5G network. The same file on 4G took exactly 5 minutes, 3.84 seconds.
  2. 4G network is on the 2600 MHz band and 5G on 26 GHz.
  3. For the trial, MTN secured a 100 MHz spectrum in Calabar and 20 MHz in Abuja. As, expected this resulted in a significant difference between the Internet speed tests in Abuja and Calabar.
  4. A major difference between 5G and 4G, is latency. On 5G, data is sent and received more than 100 times faster than 4G.

MTN will also be conducting network trials in two other locations in Nigeria: Calabar and Lagos. The network testing in Abuja is powered by Huawei. Calabar and Lagos are powered by ZTE and Ericson respectively.
The launch of MTN 5G trial doesn’t mean the telco will abandon older generation cellular networks anytime soon. They will continue to roll-out 3G and 4G networks across the country for the next few years.

How To Fix Windows 10 Mail App Not Syncing Emails

Windows have a default Mailing Application which comes with Windows 10 Home or Pro during installation. This Windows 10 Mail App is able to sync and access your email account to provide you with all relevant messages, both inbox, sent or spam. Nevertheless, there is an issue that sometimes occurs when Windows Mail Try Syncing your email, it fails and leaves the message "We couldn't access this account. You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync to this device", I was a victim of this, but I fixed it and now teaching you guys how to fix this Windows Mail Error.

Windows 10 Mail App offers different mailing services such as Google Login, when you sign up or log in to your Gmail Account through Windows Mail, your messages will be synced immediately and all messages previously sent on your Mail will be refreshed there for your view, you can even send messages and it delivers faster than the web version. Also, the Gmail web version takes time to load, but when using Windows 10 Mail App, you do not need to wait for any splash screen, it loads instantly.

In addition, multiple accounts of Google Mail can be synced simultaneously and you can switch between accounts or even view all Mail messages together. Windows 10 Mail App allows you to switch between Calendar which shows you all events and also they are still synchronized through your Google account. You can switch to people too, this lets you see all contacts if you have imported them, if you haven't, the option is on the home screen. If you want to sync your to-do list, you can switch to that, but an app is required from the Microsoft Store.

Windows 10 Mail lets you add other accounts such as Outlook, Exchange, Office 365, Yahoo!, iCloud, and other accounts such as POP, IMAP which offers custom/professional email login like info [@] website dot com. I faced Windows 10 mail app not syncing my emails when I tried POP login, but I got it fixed, other email providers like Google and outlook worked perfectly fine. So now, let us see some causes of Windows Mail App not sending and receiving email messages.

Windows 10 Mail Not Syncing Email Causes

There is a cause to every problem, sometimes knowing the root of a problem makes it easier to get a quick solution like Windows 10 Mail App. Nothing is perfect, so flaws are hardwired, it must happen. But there is a solution to every problem, even if not permanent, but temporary, but I am showing you the permanent solution to this problem today.

1. Wrong Email or Password

This is the first thought that should come in mind, windows 10 mail will not sync your messages when you couldn't verify you own the email account. Providing a wrong email will not log you in and even if it did due to some bug in the app, you will not be able to access the account and see its sensitive information. Ok, now you know what to do if windows mail fails to receive emails from the server. If you forgot your password, reset it and login again.

2. Windows Firewall and Security Blocking Access

 Windows Firewall Mail Fix

This is a recommended analysis by Microsoft, they said: "Firewalls and antivirus software might prevent you from syncing your email and calendar events." They said turning off security software such as Windows Defender or other antivirus firewall features can help resolve the issue.

3. Email Server Issue

Most times Windows 10 Mail not accessing your Mail is from the Email Provider. Try to check if you can send and receive emails through their web version, if you cannot, contact your mailing provider because they might provide you with an updated email server address, but if you can send emails, then we have come to the final fix which worked for me.

4. Internet Connectivity Issues

If your connection to the internet is not secure, Mail might not work properly, this also includes slow internet connections or no internet data available. If these are working properly, try connecting to Windows 10 VPN or anyone available and resync Mail again, it should display all messages through the application.

How To Permanently Fix Win 10 Mail Cannot Access Account?

Ok, here we are, I hope you did not use the Page Jump, if you did, you have missed valuable information about the causes which have solutions as well. This issue is a technical one and you need to try different methods to know what prevents you from receiving emails even when your internet connection is connected. So, I have added screenshots of the step by step tutorial, enjoy.

RECOMMENDED:

Solution - Remove Account and Re-login

Surprising right? This is exactly what worked for me, sometimes solutions are easy, you cannot know it at first, but with consistent research and trying, the fix will be known. I do not want you stressing yourself seeking the answer to this question and then not getting it as early as possible. It was just too easy, all I did was remove the POP email account and then add it again, tap the Sync Icon and all my messages were shown instantly, without delay. Below is exactly how to remove the account and login.

  • Press Win Button or Use Cortana to search Mail
  • Locate Mail and Open
  • On Accounts, click Add Account
  • Different account types are displayed since we are dealing with Google and POP emails, select it.
  • Add your Email and Password, Username for sent email after linking account.
  • All emails will be synced, when it didn't sync (solution)
  • Right Click on the account and select Remove this account from your device

Remove mail account windows

  • Repeat step 1 to 6 again and it now works perfectly

Windows 10 Mail app has been fixed, it should now work perfectly fine, when you face such issue again, although I haven't in a while now, you should simply follow the same tutorial again and it will be working well.

Final Verdict

It is nice using Windows Mail App for Laptops or Desktops, such apps help message delivery and receiving 2x faster than the web version, there is no more need logining to see previously saved emails, with Windows 10 Mail, you can see all your old emails without any internet connection, that is, offline mode. That's something I like, in addition, another feature is the fast delivery of messages notifications when it pops up, you can click it and windows mail opens.

I know this method should fix your PC mail not able to access your account which informs you to update your password or give the account permission to sync to the device, but if the error still persists, try and run windows diagnosis on the app, possibly the reason and fix for the error will be known. If you are using windows and haven't faced this error before, possibly helping a friend looking for solutions, you need to bookmark this page because this might be needed later. Share this post and comment just below this article how this went for you and any other working method not mentioned here, thanks for reading and have a wonderful Week ahead.

Top 3 Biggest IoT Security Issues Today

The market for IoT is set to rise to around €250 million in Europe by the end of 2020. However, this increase in the popularity of IoT devices, which in turn has led to an increase in the usage of IoT app development, also comes with its share of issues and challenges.

Manufacturers are out there competing with one another on who can get the best and latest devices out to the consumer first. But while they are doing that, they’re not giving enough time and consideration to the security implications associated with management and data access, as well as the actual device itself.

Thus, of all the security challenges out there, what are the ones that must be paid the most attention to?

1. IoT Security Issues With Update Management

One very huge security risk associated with IoT devices, is the insecurity in firmware and software. Although the manufacturer would typically sell their devices with the latest firmware and/or software, vulnerabilities are always being discovered, which means at some point, that device will become highly susceptible to hackers.

It's for this reason why updates are so important, as they maintain the long term security of the IoT device. However, in order for this to work effectively, new updates must be released, as soon as possible. Still, when you compare IoT devices to computers and smartphones, which receive updates on a regular basis, which in most cases is automated, these IoT devices are found wanting.

Another issue associated with update management is that, while an IoT device is being updated, there’s the potential possibility of the device itself, suffer some downtime, at least for the duration of the update. During this period, the device would naturally become vulnerable, to both malicious files and hackers, so that’s something to think about.

2. Brute-Force Attacks and Default Passwords

The largest and most distributive of DDoS attacks typically use the Mirai botnet. This particular attack pattern is aimed primarily at shipped devices that use their default passwords. This is why it’s so important manufacturers warn their customers to change their passwords, the moment they receive the device.

Delving deeper, I have found that there are some reports that advice manufactures not to sell IoT devices that come with your typical ‘Admin’ ‘Password’ user login credentials.

However, there are no fixed laws that say such companies must do these things, ultimately it’s at the discretion of the manufacturer. This is why such a thing should be made law.

An IoT device that comes with weak login details and credentials, immediately becomes vulnerable to brute-force attacks, from the very moment that you turn the device on.

The main reason why the Mirai malware was as successful as it was, is because it preyed on this reality, by singling out those IoT devices that use weak login credentials in order to infiltrate them.

So, in short, any company that acquires an IoT device and doesn’t take the appropriate steps to change its default credentials, is immediately placing that business and its assets at risk to hackers who deploy brute-force attacks.

3. Botnet Attacks

An IoT device that is infected with malware, poses only a small threat, simply because it’s just one device, but when you have a collection of infected IoT devices that’s when the real trouble starts. In order to carry out a botnet attack, the hacker must create hundreds or thousands of little bots that infect the target using malicious files, which direct it to send out thousands of requests, this in turn ends up bringing down the device, network, system, etc.

The Mirai bot attack, which I previously mentioned, is what caused most of the concern centred on these kinds of attacks. These DDoS attacks however, work by using hundreds, even thousands of different home routers, IP cameras, NAS, all infected with the same malicious file, directed to bring down a specific DNS, which may be providing service to a notable platform like Netflix or Twitter.

The main issues with IoT devices is that they are highly vulnerable to malicious attacks. This is because, they are not regularly updated with the latest security patches, like our computer systems. As a result, over time they become infected with many different virus files, which results in them becoming virus hubs in waiting, for when they can be used to carry out the bidding of the hacker.

What makes it even worse is that botnets are capable of posing a threat to manufacturing plants, electric grids, water treatment plants, transportation systems, and many more, all of which large groups of people depend upon. For example, hackers could create a nation-wide blackout, by trigging a heating and cooling issue, resulting in temperature spikes on the national grid.
