On the occasion Google shuts down Google's Plus consumer service, in a newsletter, Blackberry announced that its BBM consumer service would be officially shut down on 31 May 2019.
The instant messaging application was launched subsequently in the year 2013, recording 5million downloads within 8hours of its release. Blackberry Messenger was once the best messaging app in the world.
We've only got to say good bye to the renowned Blackberry Messenger after 6years of it's existence. Many users have already switched on to other social platforms, such as Whatsapp, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, etc.

Blackberry has said that user information like photographs, videos and files will be downloadable until the app is closed at the end of May 2019. You can't open BBM on your device to see old or new messages or retrieve asset files once the service has shut down.This is what the company claims to be insinuating;

You can also download the enterprise version on Android and iOS for free, if you really miss BBM and want to keep using it, but every six months there will be a $2.50 subscription fees. BBMe offers what every other app provides for instant messaging. The end-to -end encryption secures your message and allows you to edit messages and unsend messages etc. These features are available on other social platform free of charge. However, it's worth the few bucks if you're a passionate BBM user.
